BBC site update

The Doctor Who BBC website has been updated here.

They have a new script segment:
Donna: God, the airs disgusting.
Doctor: Its not so bad for me - go on, get inside the TARDIS-(holds out key)
Oh. Never given you a key. Keep that, go on. Thats yours. Quite a big moment really.
Donna: Yeah, maybe we can get sentimental after the worlds finished chocking to death.

A fear factor:

1 min - "After all that time!" sighs Samuel in relief. Harry cheers "Yay, xxxxx (Donna?) saves the day!"

2 min - Samuel remembers how that worked in a previous series: "I bet the password's xxxxxxx." (Buffalo?) "That looks like a PDA," muses Samuel. "No, you can't have one," says Mum firmly.

3 min - "I like that one!" says Amy, pointing at xxxxx. (Skorr?) Harry looks at her in disbelief. "They're not very politically correct," grins Adam.

4 min - "But where's the real Martha? Is she OK?" asks Amy, concerned. Meanwhile, the Doctor gives Donna a xxxxxx xxx. (TARDIS key?) Her indifferent reaction amuses the kids.

5 min - "They're like robots!" observes Samuel. Then he's shocked: "They're xxxxxxx (nicking?) the TARDIS!" Adam's impressed, "Cool!"

6 min - Harry and Amy laugh at Donna's reaction. "Lucky the TARDIS doors aren't creaky," Adam thinks.

7 min - "She's a clone," states Amy with authority, and gives "xxxxxx" (Martha?) a hard stare.

8 min - Adam's puzzled: "What's xxxxxx-x?" Dad groans "What are they teaching kids in Political Science these days?"

10 min - "It's xoxmy xoox!" (Tommy Zoom?) yell Harry and Amy simultaneously, and they laugh.

12 min - The family are shocked when xxxx (Luke?) produces a xxx. (Gun?) "He's really got some social problems," decides Adam. "He's a loony!" whispers Harry.

13 min - Amy's unnerved by the xxx. (Gun?)

15 min - "More tears," notes Samuel sadly. Adam is sympathetic, "She takes it quite emotionally." Amy and Harry hold Mum's hand.

16 min - "Wouldn't that make it flammable, like petrol?" asks Adam. Harry leans forward anxiously, "Something bad is about to happen..."

17 min - "They're going to eat them!" gasps Adam. Samuel says "Germany must be too busy." "Shush!" shouts Amy.

20 min - "It sounds like LaserQuest!" decides Samuel. Adam shares UNIT's frustration, "That must get really annoying after a while!" Amy begins to edge off the sofa...

21 min - "He was with the xxxxx (third?) Doctor, wasn't he Dad?" asks Harry.

22 min - "Woah, he's smart!" grins Adam. "Is he laughing?" asks Samuel. "Obviously not," Adam replies.

23 min - "Because he's really old," says Samuel as though that explains everything. "He's over 900 years old."

24 min - Amy's very nervous for Donna. "How will Donna hit the xxxxxx xxxx?" (probic vent?) asks Adam.

25 min - "But she's got five fingers!" complains Amy. Adam and Samuel make Mr Spock hands at each other.

26 min - Made of steel! And Amy's unnerved by a familiar question "xxx xxx xx xxxxx?" (Are you my mummy?)

28 min - Amy's looking even more worried. "Isn't that the Master's xxxxxxxxx?" (trademark?) "Wahey!" grins Samuel. The boys love it!

33 min - A big cheer when the Doctor xxxxxxx (Rescues?) Donna!

34 min - "Wowww!" gasps Samuel. The older boys fake a coughing fit. Harry and Amy are distressed that Donna's Mum is xxxxxx. (Crying?)

36 min - The whole world is xx xxxx! (On fire?)

37 min - Captain Price xxxxxx Colonel Mace. Amy smiles warmly. Harry cringes "Ewww!" Samuel thinks it's hilarious. Adam says "Random!"

39 min - Amy and Harry are on tenterhooks, expecting the worst...

41 min - Adam remembers from before. "I wonder if it will start snowing?" Amy nods with satisfaction as Donna xxxxxx (Kisses?) the Doctor.

43 min - "Uh-oh!" say Adam and Samuel. And there's something familiar on the TARDIS floor... "The xxxx xx x xxx (Hand in a jar?) is going insane!" shouts Adam!

And a new preview for the next episode:

Lizos review

Here is Lizo from Newsround weekly review of Doctor Who, I would also like to congratulate Lizo on getting promoted but I hope he still writes his wonderful reviews, here is the one for The Poison Sky:

It's not looking good. The skies over the world are filling with toxic gas, the evil Martha clone is helping to put the Sontarans' plan into operation, and the Doctor can't work out what the aliens are really up to.

Can Donna stop the Sontarans? There's only one person who can save the day. But is Donna up to it?
The second half of this two-part adventure rattles along at great pace. And is pretty much action packed from start to finish.
Better still, after helping the Doctor over the last few episodes Donna gets the chance to see if she can do things on her own.
Violence
The Doctor's got big problems too, in this episode. Not only is he trying to stop the war-like Sontarans, but he's also doing his best to hold UNIT back from launching what could be a disastrous attack on the aliens.

The Doctor's got BIG problemsThis story's anti-war message works well, with the Doctor leading by example as he demonstrates that violence should only ever be used when there's absolutely no alternative.
But it's not all grim fighting, there are some lovely moments of humour, especially for fans who've been watching the series since it came back three years ago.
Deadly opponents
Some two-part stories promise much in the first-half, but fail to deliver in the second. But the concluding part of this adventure is one that doesn't disappoint.
It's simply a great story, with the Doctor once more taking on deadly opponents armed only with his wits.
And you know that that means the Sontarans don't stand a chance!

Digital spy review

Here are a few spilers which are all true from Digital Spy:

Donna Nobis Perchum
After bidding goodbye to her family yet again, Donna is ushered into the TARDIS by the Doctor for safe-keeping until the storm blows over. Unfortunately, she's not got her feet up for long, as the Sontarans - aided by Martha's clone buddies - teleport the TARDIS to their ship above the Earth.

The clue's in the name.
As the fumes from Atmos engulf the planet, the nations of the world unite to launch a nuclear strike against the Sontaran ship. The Doctor knows that the nuclear missles will have no impact, but his pleas to stop the strike fall on deaf ears. Expect lots of shouting from Mr Tennant this episode, by the way - he's scary when he's impassioned! The Doctor also realises that the gas is being used by the Sontarans for a secondary purpose - but what exactly are they planning for the Earth?

Freema? Think again
When all is done, Martha Jones is ready to go home to her waiting fiancé. But in a surprise twist, she is not allowed to. Physically not allowed to. Three's a crowd, eh?p

Who Said What?
Here are some select quotes from the episode, with the obligatory blanks left in to keep you wondering. Commence speculation!
"She's not like you. She's not a *******."
"My God, they're like trolls."
"I've designed a ****** program."
"The ******* of ****** is ******* nonetheless."
"Isolate them as they perish."
"Are you my *****?"
"We've lost our target practice."

Wednesday 23 April 2008

Well the BBC Doctor Who website has been updated here.

It has a special jigsaw which when completes reveales a bit of the script:

Private Gray: Greyhound Sixteen to Trap One. We've found something - basement corridor, northside, grid thirty-six. Request backup, over.
Military Voice: Trap One, sending assistance, over
Private Harris: Like something boiling inside...
Private Gray: Don't touch it.
Private Harris: C'mon Steve, we get first rights on this. That means promotion!

And the fear factor

1 min - "Is he evil?" wonders Amy. "I think so," says Harry. "The Americans are taking over!" says Adam. "Spooky," says Samuel.

2 min - XXXX get a mention, and a little cheer from the boys. Harry's impressed by the journalist's XXX: Samuel yells advice, but it's too late! "Oh, nooo!" "I knew it would do that," says Harry, grimacing.

2 min - The family are amused that the Doctor is teaching Donna to XXXXX (drive?). Amy examines the XXXXXXX (console?) carefully: "There's a XXXX on there!"

3 min - The boys go "Ooooooh!" Freema's name appears in the credits. A big cheer from the family.

4 min - "XXXXXX (Martha?) looks weird in leather," notes Harry with a frown.

5 min - "XXm XXlliXXn! (Tom Milligan?) I remember him," grins Adam.

6 min - "What are illegal XXXXXX?" questions Amy. But before Dad can answer... Samuel is impressed: "She's got the power!"

7 min - "Could be a glove," ponders Adam, and shows how you'd have to arrange your fingers to fit. Harry remembers from earlier stories he's seen on DVD "Hey, that says Sam!" he tells Samuel. Samuel screws his eyes up: "No it doesn't," he decides, disappointed, "it says XXX."

8 min - We learn that everyone's got XXXXX. (ATMOS?) "We haven't," says Adam. Mum groans, anticipating yet another unsuitable bedroom redecoration request. "Shh!" says Amy, trying hard to concentrate.

11 min - "The XXXXXXXX (Sontaran?) can see through that little screen what's going on!" warns Amy.

12 min - "What that?" asks Harry, pointing to the middle of the screen "A Queen Bee..." suggests Harry.

13 min - "Alien snot," suggests Samuel. The family leap back! "It's one of those dummy things!" cries Amy. "Yeah, an XXXXX!" (Auton?!) says Harry excitedly.

18 min - Samuel remembers Tim Latimer from last year. "He's a real shortie!" says Mum. "Shhh!" the kids tell her. They've seen what he did to the soldiers. And then the XXXXXXXX (teleport?) activates, and they go "Ooooohh!"

19 min - Adam looks sad - he wasn't expecting this. "She'll change her mind," suggests Samuel, but he doesn't look too sure.

21 min - Martha puts her XXXXXXXXXXX (stethoscope?) on Mr Treppa's XXXXX (heart?)

23 min - They all cheer and wave. "Now that's a memory!" grins Samuel. "I don't like his sweater, though," frowns Harry.

24 min - Martha is grabbed by the XXXXXXXX (soldiers?) The boys wince.

26 min - "Oh no!" says Harry, "They're gonna go into the XXXXX!" (river?)

27 min - The whole family enjoy the Doctor's enthusiasm. Dad gives a little cheer when the Doctor corrects Rattigan. The boys look oddly at dad. "He's definitely evil," decides Amy.

30 min - "Aha," says Samuel, "that's what it stands for." "XXXXXX (potato?) head!" shouts Harry. "He does look like a XXXXXX head!" laughs Amy.

31 min - "Ooh, the Doctor can play XXXXXX," says Adam.

32 min - "That one looks like a baby!" laughs Amy.

33 min - Samuel chews his lip, "Is she going to get dipped in the green goo?" wonders a worried Amy.

34 min - "Nice view!" agrees Samuel. "Like the Americans at the start of World War II?" ponders Adam. "What are they teaching kids in history these day" despairs Dad.

35 min - "It's got bumps, like a XXXXX," Adam observes. "And a spiky thing too," adds Harry, noting the design. "Nice!" Back on Earth... "She's got no clothes on," notes Samuel. "Is that right?" asks Dad, and gets a bit closer to the screen. "Oi!" says Mum. "She's like an Ood," suggest Amy.

40 min - The Doctor has found something. "Sound like he should have those in his coat," laughs Adam. "So that's why he wasn't at the wedding," realises Samuel.

41 min - "They've got Mapquest," says Dad. The boys shush him. The boys bounce on the settee with excitement! Amy's busy deciding if she like the 'baby-face' or not.

42 min - "Nooo! shout the kids, but it's too late! "Oh no!" shouts mum. Samuel points and says, "It's worse than when Adam..." Dad puts his hand over Samuel's mouth.

43 min - "Except maybe in big fields," suggests Harry, optimistically.

Having covertly established a base at the mysterious ATMOS Factory aided by the Rattigan Academy, the Sontarans unleash a potent terror which brings the world to its knees.

Also you might notice I am now being funded by Atmos on my site..........hehe

Cyber christmas

On the Doctor Who Forums pictures have coem about showing a Cyberman in filming the Christmas special which brings confirmation that they will be in the Christmas special so I would like to thank Scooty of DWF for the picture and set report:
Right, lets have a full report from Scooty

I arrived at the cemetary around 1pm today and was confronted with an awesome sight, Cybermen! 8 New series style Cybermen were walking marching through the graveyard covered in snow and mist. They look identical to how they did in Rise of the Cybermen and Doomsday. The Cybus logo is present and correct. Right from the moment I got there, the security said that no photographs were to be taken at all and they spent most of their day telling people off for doing it. I respected this and thus the only photos I took today were of a Cybermen posing for a photograph and some Victorian people dashing about (no more than what was seen and photographed yesterday).

As for the scenes being filmed:

1. The Cybermen march through the graveyard. Victorian people run away scared and a number of them get deleted in the usual neck grasp style.
2. Now this is the unusual bit - 3 actors, dressed in feathery cloaks (like Ringwraiths) are wearing Cybermen heads. But not just any heads. Bronze or rusty heads. With a different handle-bar design. The handle bars are more of a diamond shape around the head. It's difficult to explain the design without photos. They also have bronze coloured hands. These three creatures run around the graveyard, staying close to the floor killing people. The Cybermen who are marching through, take no notice of them. Are they working together??
3. One of these creatures - who I swear one of the crew called "Cyber Wraiths" (but don't hold me to that) - jumps off a trampoline onto one of the Victorians and kills him.

There was no dialogue to be heard, today was action filming all the way. Hope this report makes up for the lack of photos - I assume we will be getting a BBC photo release very soon.

BBC site update

The BBC site homepage has been updated...you can find it here and also the Fires of Pompeii section has been updated here.

Digital spy Fires of Pompeii preview

The article below is from the digital spy review of The Fires of Pompeii...the original article can be found here:

The Fires Of Pompeii

This week Doctor and The Donna land in AD79 (only 52 years after Jack's burial, eh?) in Pompeii, the day before the big blowout. The Doctor is keen to scarper straight away - although needless to say, events conspire against him - while Donna is determined that the pair do something to save the clueless townsfolk. There are guest stars aplenty in this episode, including Peter Capaldi (last seen as Sid's dead dad in Skins), Phil Davis and Tracey Childs.

The Sisterhood
This is Doctor Who, so it's not just as simple as a volcano blowing its top. The supernatural-tinged mystery involves a group of ladies known as the Sisterhood - no relation to those feline creatures from previous series - who have the ability to tell future events. For example, they know who the Doctor and Donna are, and they seem to know a bit about what's in store for them both too. As a cunning means of identification, members of the Sisterhood draw eyes on the backs of their hands then hold them up in front of their faces as if to represent ACTUAL eyes (see right). Genius, no?

Rose Again
There's no sign of Rose in this episode - but then again, there was no sign of her in the original cut of episode one provided to us press people, either. My guess is we'll see several more Rose cameos over the course of the series in the buildup to her return proper (episodes 11 to 13) but probably not again for a few weeks.

Who said what?

Here are some select quotes from the episode, with the obligatory blanks left in to keep you guessing. Add your guesses at the end of the column!

The below sentences are not swears just spoiler-ish words blanked out
"A temple made of ****."
"Breathe deeply, remember what the ********** said."
"Doctor, *** ** ***u****g."
"We are building the ******, as dictated by the gods."
"Come with me."

Tuesday 8 April 2008

Here is the newsround review of the second episode which sounds great:

The Doctor and Donna accidentally land in the ancient Roman city of Pompeii. And their timing couldn't have been worse.

It's the day before a huge volcano is due to erupt and bury the city killing everybody there.

The Doctor just wants to leave, but Donna thinks he should try and save the city. And that's when things take an even more mysterious turn.

Big row

People living in Pompeii are talking about a prophecy involving a blue box, and some even seem to know exactly who The Doctor and Donna are.

This is an episode that's everything an episode of Doctor Who should be.

David Tennant as The Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna.
The Doctor and Donna have a huge row!
Not only is there a baffling mystery to be solved, but there's amazing tension because a huge argument is brewing between The Doctor and Donna about whether they should leave or not.

Each of them is convinced they're doing the right thing.

Tantalising hints

That alone would make this a standout episode, but there are also some of the best special effects yet seen on the show.

As well as a few more tantalising hints about what might be coming later in the series.

All in all, one of the very best episodes the show has produced.

Five out of five.

Digital spy 4x2 rumours

Digital Spy have released some rumours about the Fires of Pompeii but these should only be taken as rumours...here the article is:

"We're positively erupting with teasery hints about what lies in store for The Doctor and Donna when they turn up in Pompeii 79AD. Here are several clues about the content of their adventure, some cryptic, others fairly blunt. As an added bonus, we've chucked in three red herrings into the lava this week for you to fish out.

The Tardis is sold, but without The Doctor's consent.

The Doctor reveals himself as a Fawlty Towers fan with a quip he makes about Donna.

The time travelling pair are already known to some inhabitants of Pompeii.

An escape pod is used at some stage.

Donna uses her mobile to send Wilf a picture message of the erupting volcano.

Rose Tyler is glimpsed hiding behind a rock in the centre of the volcano, watching The Doctor.

The Tardis translation device isn't limited to voices.

Donna is turned to stone.

The Doctor speaks about his father.

Pompeii residents believe that Donna is Welsh.

The Shadow Proclamation (which would be a great name for a band) crops up again.

The Doctor talks about Status Quo and quotes Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure."

Fires of Pompeii new pictures

Name change

The BBC changed the name of episode 9 from Rivers run to Forest of the Dead it has been confirmed and I will update it soon.

Script segment and fear factor

Here is the fear factor from the BBC Doctor Who site:
  • 1 min - Samuel's amused: "They almost walked into each other!" "But what are they doing?" says Amy.

  • 4 min - "They look like meerkats," says Adam. Amy's exasperated. Harry thinks it's hilarious.

  • 7 min - Amy's eyes widen in concern. Meanwhile, Samuel is reminded of someone... "Was she in charge of the Bubbleshock factory in Sarah Jane Adventures?"

  • 10 min - Adam's advice is: "Try switching it off and back on again."

  • 12 min - It's like a Raston Warrior Robot!

  • 13 min - "Ooh, look who it is!" The boys instantly recognise a familiar face.

  • 16 min - "100 years? She'll be dead by then!" notes the ever-practical Harry.

  • 18 min - "Why can't she hear it?" wonders Samuel.

  • 20 min - "It's the wrong man! I mean, woman!" exclaims Harry.

  • 21 min - Harry's approves of the Doctor's new piece of kit.

  • 25 min - Amy's surprised at an unexpected yet familiar device.

  • 27 min - The kids remember from Human Nature...

  • 32 min - "That's not like the Doctor, is it?" asks Adam.

  • 33 min - "Boxing Day is your birthday, Adam," Samuel says. "Donna wouldn't know that," deadpans Adam.

  • 39 min - "The people in London must be getting used to ********** by now," laughs Samuel. "I feel sorry for Gramps," says Adam.

  • 40 min - "Technically," muses Adam, "they're British citizens."

  • 43 min - "Move her stuff in!" Samuel urges him.
And here is a script segment that was available if you completed a jigsaw puzzle on the BBC Doctor Who site:
Miss Foster: Adipose Industries. The twenty-first century way to loose weight. No exercise, no diet, no pain. Just lifelong freedom, from fat, the holy grail of modern age. And here it is!

[Holds up an ordinary red and white capsule]

Miss Foster: You just take one capsule. One capsule, once a day for three weeks. And the fat, as they say...

[ON SCREEN, GRAPHIC, the logo does a little spin, the jingle sings: The fat just walks awaaaay!]

Also just thought I would add that the rumours on the forums are that Donna is controlled by the Master all through the 4th series though I doubt this is true , also Deathray magazine published an article naming all the companions in the series 4 finale and it included Ianto and Gwen from Torchwood but this should be taken with a pinch of salt as the saying goes!!!

Little Monsters?

The picture above is of the Doctors Daughter who is called Jenny

The adipose are something a little different: they’re small and cute, says Will Cohen at the visual effects company The Mill, who were responsible for bring the creatures to life. Adipose means “Fat”, which hints at there origins. “There soft, pliable, rubbery and fat like,” says Cohen, “and slightly different”

Russell T Davies wanted crowds of them for the new series opener Partners In Crime. Who are you going to call? Oscar winning Stephen Regelous, creator of massive software, which conjured up the vast battles in the Lord of the Rings films, that’s who. Trouble is, he lives in New Zealand. But, adds Cohen, as Regelous is a huge Who fan, he said “If we ever needed to do a crowd for doctor who, he’d come here and work for us” And he did. The Image at the side shows and adipose and the instructions that govern its movement on massive software. “We made two versions of the adipose: background extras, which have artificial intelligence and can move independently; and “hero” ones in the foreground which the Mill animated.”

The Mill love them and Cohen sees extra potential: “Someone made a stress-busting toy out of them. I have one at my desk at the moment!”

Radio Times: Donnas calling

I have now written out the rest of the interview
Donna's Calling

The Reunion

Catherine, Were you surprised to be asked to rejoin the doctor for a full season as Donna Noble?

CT: I couldn’t have been more surprised. I went to lunch with [executive producer] Julie Gardener and I thought we were just there to chat. When people say, “My jaw hit the floor,” I know what they mean! I made my decision as soon as they suggested it – it just took a while to work out the logistics.

How are Donna and the Doctor reunited?

DT: That’s part of the joy of the first episode, seeing how they meet again. It’s as much about that as it’s about the alien goings on. If you were looking for the doctor, where would you go? What sort of thing would you look for?

What Changed her Mind?

DT: Ooh, her boyfriend being eaten by a giant spider. That king of thing.

CT: She thought she’d try something new.

How does he take to seeing her again? Donna was a bit of a handful last time around

DT: He’s pretty gobsmacked. But I think he feels that he didn’t treat Martha as fairly as he might have done, so at first he’s slightly reluctant to involve anyone else in his life. But Donna’s quite a force of nature, so she doesn’t take no for an answer.

The Relationship

How do they get on together?

CT: Its different from the previous companions, because she doesn’t have the romantic attachment [as Rose or Martha] to the doctor

DT: You’ll recognise the relationship from The Runaway Bride, but it’s less abrasive, because now Donna wants to be a part of the TARDIS’s life.

CT: In fact, during The Runaway Bride all she wanted was to do was get away from him; as it turns out, all she wants to do is be with him

Is Donna as mouthy as before?

CT: Everyone assumed she was a one off – myself included – but now she has a whole season to have a story arc. So none of the feistiness has been lost, but you also tap into a different side of her – a much more vulnerable side. She experiences all the things she sees in a very human way. So there are episodes where she lands on an alien planet, sees and alien and says “Oh My God!”

DT: She kept her feet on the ground a bit. She probably challenges him a bit more. The Doctor had a slight tendency to be a little……

CT: Pompous?

DT: Pompous! [Laughs] But she cuts through all of that.

Does Donna bring out a different side in The Doctor?

DT: I think they’re good for each other. They’re good at limiting each other’s less appealing excesses. There is an equality. It’s now quite teacher and pupil, which in a sense The Doctor and Martha and The Doctor and Rose were. There’s and ease with each other

Does Donna change though out the series

CT: She has a fantastic story arc. Donna feels that he hasn’t done anything with her life and suddenly she’s having incredible adventures – and she’s not unmoved by them. She was at the beginning, but you couldn’t have had a series of someone going “Get away from me! Shut Up”

DT: You see a huge range. There’s a funny, quite banter-y stuff and a lot of surprisingly emotional stuff.

CT: They really rounded Donna out from being a shouting fishwife to some one who’s quite vulnerable and emotional.

Does she provide a greater potential for comedy?

CT: Since they’re more like equals, the one-liners are more shared out. I used to get all the best lines! I think Russell’s really enjoyed righting that dynamic, and its certainly great fun to play.

There’s more from Tennant and Tate on Doctor Who Confidential (Sat BBC3 7:10)

Radio Times episode guide

I have written out the piedoe guide in the Radio Times

Episode 1: Partners in Crime

Writer: Russell T Davies

Guest Star: Sarah Lancashire

Modern-day London and a brand new diet pill is being tested by the mysterious Adipose Industries. Slogan: the sat just walks away! But soon, there are unexplained deaths, strange creatures in the shadows, and the doctor starts investigating, little knowing that an old friend of his is also on the trail…

We last saw Donna Noble in the Christmas 2006 special (The Runaway Bride), when her wedding dress was ruined by robot Santa’s, a giant spider and a villainous groom. But at the end of that story, when the doctor offered her a place on board the TARDIS, she said no. I’ve always imagined Donna’s reaction when she woke up on Boxing Day. “I said what??!” She’s realised that life as a temp in Chiswick doesn’t quite compare to adventures in time and space. Now she’s determined to put that right – and once Donna decides to do something, not even the sinister Miss Foster and her macabre alien horde can stop her!

I have loved Donna so much, and wanted to write more for her, but I never dreamt for a second that Catherine Tate would be able to commit to an entire series of 13 episodes. Surly she’s the busiest women in TV, not to mention cinema?

But thank god, we decided to risk it, and actually asked. And Catherine said yes! Immediately! And her performance is just dazzling. After Rose Plucked our heartstrings and Martha’s love went unrequited, it’s wonderful to have a companion who isn’t interested in the doctor in that way – she’s a friend, an equal and a conscience, and I swear she will break your heart.

Episode 2: The Fires of Pompeii

Writer: James Moran

Guest Star: Phil Davis, Peter Capaldi, Sarah Behar

Pompeii, AD 79. And it’s Volcano day! But there’s far more than Vesuvius to worry about: psychic powers are running rampant; a secretive Sisterhood conceals a horrifying High Priestess; and beneath the ground, vast creatures are stirring. This is where Donna truly comes into her own, challenging the Time Lord like no ones aver done before, with one vital question: if he knows everyone is going to die, why can’t you save them? For once, there’s no easy answer for the doctor, as the Cult of Vulcan prepares to forge a new empire on earth.

After last year’s visit to meet Shakespeare – our most ambitious production to date – we were determined to go one better. This production team meets every challenge thrown in, every time. In this case, it meant taking the TARDIS from Cardiff to CinecittĂ  studios in Rome to shoot the exterior scenes. The result is spectacular, explosive and tragic.

Episode 3: Planet of the Ood

Writer: Keith Temple

Guest Star: Tim McInnerny

Donna’s first visit to an alien world. And it’s freezing! But on the icescapes of a distant planet, the greatest danger might be from the human race itself. When the doctor meets the Ood again – last seen in 2006’s The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit – he’s determined to find out the truth behind their servility. But when an oods eyes turn red, you know you’re in trouble, and the red-eye is spreading…

Trips to alien worlds allow our entire art department to shine – from the prophetic Ood, to incredible CG vistas, right down to the tiniest details on the wardrobe department’s futuristic collars and ties. But it’s a savage world out there in space with solders and riots and betrayals – and for the doctor, a terrifying encounter with a big claw!

Episode 4: The Sontaran Stratagem

Episode 5: The Poison Sky

Writer: Helen Raynor

Guest Star: Christopher Ryan

The Return of Martha Jones! We’ve seen Freema Agyeman take Martha from Doctor Who to Torchwood, and now back home again in her new job as medical officer for UNIT, a worldwide army dedicated to fighting alien menaces. But the menace is bigger than ever, as the threat of ATMOS spreads across the planet. Sounds like she needs her old friend, the doctor! But he’s about to meet an old enemy, as the Sontarans lie in wait – the warlike, potato faced monsters not yet seen on screen since 1985. They’re back, they’re brutal and they’re out for revenge…

This story also gives us a chance to catch up with the family Donna left behind – her no-nonsense mum (Jacqueline King) and Granddad, played by none other than Bernard Cribbins. Bernard appeared in the Christmas 2007 special, along side Kylie Minogue, and we loved him so much, we asked him back!

Episode 6: The Doctor’s Daughter

Writer: Stephen Greenhorn

Guest Star: Georgia Moffett, Nigel Terry

Yes, that’s the title. And it does exactly what it says on the tin! I’m saying no more; just watch David Tennant take the doctor into new territory, with his most spellbinding performance yet.

Episode 7: The Unicorn and the Wasp

Writer: Gareth Roberts

Guest Star: Felicity Kendal, Fenella Woolgar

In 1929, Agatha Christie mysteriously disappeared, only to be found, ten days later, with no memory of what happened. What is a nervous breakdown? A cry for help? Or perhaps a giant alien wasp..?

It’s a classic murder mystery, with a country house, vintage cars, a flapper, a vicar, a butler, a body in the library, tea on the lawn, and horrible deaths. And see if you can spot how many titles of Agatha Christie novels are hidden in the dialogue!

Episode 8: Silence in the Library

Episode 9: River’s Run

Writer: Steven Moffat

Guest Star: Alex Kingston, Colin Salmon

Just to warn you, Steven Moffat created the “Are you my mummy?” Empty Child, Madame de Pompadour’s Clockwork Droids and last years Weeping Angels (“Don’t Blink!”) But I think he was just warming you up, getting you ready for this year’s adventure. Now we’ve got two episodes of terror with an abandoned library, moving shadows, the gruesome nodes, and the horrifying data ghost – possibly the most spine-chilling scene I’ve ever seen, anywhere. Don’t blink indeed, don’t miss a second!

Episode 10: Midnight

Writer: Russell T Davies

Guest Star: Lesley Sharp, Lindsey Coulson, David Troughton

The Planet Midnight: a leisure world! Golden spas, diamond landscapes, anti-gravity restaurants… What could possibly go wrong? But for once the doctor’s left powerless and terrified as the knocking of the wall begins…

Episode 11: Turn Left

Writer: Russell T Davies

Guest Star: Chipo Chung

The Strands of Donna’s story begin to draw to a terrible climax as she finds her life, her family, her entire world being devastated. Only one person can help. But this time it’s not the doctor – it’s someone from a parallel universe, a women thought to be lost forever….

Episode 12: TBA

Episode 13: Journey’s End

Writer: Russell T Davies

Guest Star: Too many names!

It’s the big finale! And the title of episode 12 is being kept secret as it gives away too much. But the threat is on a truly epic scale, as an ancient enemy is resurrected and the whole universe is thrown into danger.

Who are the Children of Time? What is the secret of the Vault? And surly, this time, not this time, not everyone can get out alive.
